THE WEBA SHOW: Avant Garde Vaudville (1981-1984).
Created by: Weba Garretson, David Schweizer, Philip Littell & Jerry Frankel.

I have to say that I loved doing the "Weba Show" and hated doing it too. The fun part was rehearsing the songs in Jerry's apartment in Venice with David, Philip, Jerry and I laughing at our bizarre choices -- "Knock Three Times on the Ceiling if You Want Me", "Love Child", "Ode to Billy Joe", "One is the Loneliest Number", "Wear Your Love Like Heaven", "Ballad of the Green Berets", "Wichita Lineman" and "MacArthur Park." We ran for two years 1982-84, every Thursday night at the Lhasa Club in Hollywood and it was a total scene. People, mostly gay men, hung out there. It was the height of the pre-AIDS era.

What I didn't like was that the show was called the "Weba Show" but the character I was playing was nothing like ME. So I was a little confused. I playing a character whose name was "Weba." But I was really portraying a persona. Still we had a wonderful time, and did stuff that pre-dates most of what is cool now. But that's not surprising given the company we were keeping including fashion designer Gregory Poe and graphic artist Donald Krieger.

At the height of The Weba Show we appearred on the network late night talk show of the eighties Thicke of the Night and even appearred at the Playboy Jazz Festival.

"Lounge Act for the 80's", "Weba II: the Sequel" and "Weba the IIIrd: Part One" at the Lhasa Club, Los Angeles, CA, also at the Kool Jazz Festival, San Diego, CA, Olympic Arts Festival, Los Angeles, CA, LACE, Los Angeles, CA, The Horn, Santa Monica, CA, At My Place, Santa Monica, CA Danceteria, New York, NY, The Pyramid Club, New York, NY
